Dunmore is a hidden gem in southern Alberta!
… a gem that has been working and serving Albertans since the nineteenth century…

Dunmore, like many other towns in Alberta, was a railway hub. Below is a photo from 1915, where the turn table that turned trains around is pictured. In present day Dunmore, this site is now an open field next to the county office!

Quick Facts!

The Dunmore post office opened on February 1st, 1886
On January 1st 1905, the town’s name was changed to Coleridge. The turntable pictured above is marked “Coleridge, Alta”
The town name was changed back to Dunmore on August 16th, 1957.

 

… and the rest is history!
